I wanted to see if there was anything I could suggest during this week which could be potentially helpful to others. I decided to focus on posting something on forgiveness and being compassionate to ourselves. Sometimes some people may be in different places with this forgiving themselves over things that they feel didn’t go so well for them and feeling that they are not where they should be in life at their stage of life. I would suggest simply trying to let go of the past things that you feel went wrong in treatment or with your recovery and try and don’t think too much what happened may be in the past may be helpful and try and start again. Also, try and not let others also define your path in life to and limit you if you want something different in life. It is good to listen to the advise to of supportive people, but know that new paths can open up sometimes as well.
I wrote about this in my awareness article in 2021 how this used to affect me in life, thinking that I was too behind at my stage of life where I was due to the world’s standards. Today I have thrown that all away and do things that I enjoy to do and be the best person that I can be and I do not define myself by others standards. There is no such thing to me now as being to behind compared to what the world told me. We all have our own journies in life and things from the past can teach us good lessons for today. I will also add that if you are recovering, be self compassionate to yourself and try and not load yourself the responsibility too much of others that may affect your health while you are recovering and let others support you until you are in a better position.
Just an update on me, I have started voluntary work now in a hospital and am finding it fulfilling doing my own interests and am holding on in good spirits.Good luck on your path and journey to discovery.
I will link to you an article you can download for free that may interesting to read called Self forgiveness in anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa
